My Last Night at Home
So it's the day before I leave, and guess what, haven't packed yet. Why you may ask? Because there is a certain level of anxiety about attempting to decide what should come and what I have room for. Plus I'm a horrible procrastinator. But despite this lack of motivation, I am very excited to be finally going. This is a trip I've been thinking about for practically a decade. If you are unaware, I am an undercover Lord of the Rings nerd, and New Zealand happens to be the place where it was filmed and brought to life. This was the original reason for choosing this location. It's a beautiful country and the perfect set for a story of an other world. As I admired the green hills of Hobbiton and the vast Misty Mountains, I should have known I would end up an Environmental studies major. Tolkien himself felt strongly for the environment and its battle against industrious England (ex. Giant walking trees taking over the metal Orthanc). As a so called "tree hugger", I couldn't think of a more gorgeous country to visit. New Zealand does such an excellent job protecting its environment, which thankfully allows for people like me to enjoy it. I can't wait to see and experience all New Zealand has to offer and learn in one of the most beautiful countries in the world. But first I need to pack!
